Hi, I’m Neal Ritter

I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arkansas in 1978 with later postdoctoral work in neuropsychology. I’m now retired, but enjoyed a fascinating career that led me from a small town in the mountains of Arkansas to Phoenix, Hot Springs, New Orleans, and then 33 years ago to Fayetteville, AR where I live with my wife, Ana, and 2 dogs.

I previously held clinical management positions in community mental health centers, a professional school, a residential brain injury rehabilitation facility, and a rehabilitation hospital. I also enjoyed a private practice and, during that time, was jury qualified as an expert witness as a Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist in 7 states.

Because I’ve always enjoyed a new challenge (possibly related to my ADHD diagnosis), I left a successful practice mid-career to spend a couple of years as a business consultant. I followed up that adventure by developing a carpet cleaning service for used cars that expanded to most of the major car dealerships in North Carolina and parts of South Carolina. If that sounds crazy to you, just think about my wife back in Arkansas.

The impetus for my books comes from a time I spent early in my career with a man I refer to as a Western Master. During the time I worked with him, I learned far more than what I gained during my many years of formal education. The life-altering gift of transformation of consciousness he awarded me shaped everything that came after.

Much of what I learned from him went well beyond the scope of traditional psychology. It was only after my retirement that I felt free to share the insight, practical information, and even the transcendental wisdom I gained from that time. Through my writings, I’m privileged to be able to now share life lessons to assist my readers in finding and following their path through life.

While I’m rather introverted and have never sought recognition, I served as President of the Exchange Club while I was in Hot Springs and a few years ago was awarded the Albert Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award by Who’s Who in America.
